BYD representatives attend the first international forum of Hong Kong Auto Show
The 2023 Hong Kong International Automobile Expo opens at AsiaWorld-Expo in Hong Kong. As a major event on the opening day, the International Forum on "New Energy vehicle Export and Hong Kong's Strategic Positioning" was also successfully held in Hong Kong. The forum focuses on the development of new energy vehicle industry and brings together industry experts, well-known scholars, authoritative institutions and representatives of government and enterprises to discuss the challenges and opportunities of new energy vehicle export. At the event, Luo Hao, assistant to the general manager of BYD Brand and Public Relations, also shared his views on the export of new energy vehicles as a guest speaker.
Luo Hao pointed out that with the rapid development of China's new energy vehicle industry, going out to sea means competing with global automobile brands, facing the challenges of many complex factors, such as market differences, cultural awareness, industrial matching and so on. After launching the "passenger cars out to sea" program in May 2021, BYD has gradually established and improved the overseas localized new energy vehicle industry chain, built the first overseas passenger car factory in Thailand, and will set up a large production base complex in Brazil.
At the same time, BYD is also actively working with global high-quality partners to help each other and win-win results. In Thailand, BYD cooperates with R é cor VER, a new energy vehicle agent, to carry out comprehensive business such as passenger car sales, after-sales service and brand promotion. In addition, BYD has signed a global strategic cooperation agreement with Shell and set up a joint venture to jointly promote energy transformation. Luo Hao believes that China's auto exports will usher in new opportunities for scale and brand effect with new energy vehicles as the main growth force. Accelerating the localization of overseas markets will push China's new energy vehicle industry into a new stage of transformation, upgrading and high-quality development.
Xu Haidong, deputy chief engineer of China Automobile Industry Association, spoke highly of BYD's technological innovation and business practice. He mentioned that BYD has iterated many times in new energy vehicle technology, not only to meet the needs of consumers, but also to lead the world in commercialization.
International Forum on the Export of New Energy vehicles and the Strategic orientation of Hong Kong
With the expansion of BYD's global business layout, its new energy passenger vehicles have entered 59 countries and regions. As of November, BYD exported more than 200000 new energy passenger cars, which are widely recognized and supported by overseas consumers. In Brazil, BYD has been the overall leader in new energy vehicle sales for five months in a row; in Thailand, Singapore and other countries, BYD has won the first cumulative sales of pure electric vehicles from January to November; and in Costa Rica and Colombia, BYD won the top spot in cumulative sales of new energy vehicles from January to November.
As one of BYD's important markets, the Hong Kong market has shown a surging gravity. In September 2022, the pure electric passenger car BYD ATTO 3 was launched in Hong Kong, and the cumulative number of licenses has exceeded 3000. In 2023, compact electric car dolphins and pure electric seals are also listed in Hong Kong one after another, and favored by the majority of consumers, quickly become popular products.
At present, the automobile industry is accelerating the transformation to the direction of new energy, and the intelligence, electrification and globalization of passenger cars will become an important trend. In the new energy wave, BYD will seize the opportunity, continue to consolidate the strength of products and brands, bring consumers diversified and personalized driving experience of new energy vehicles, and effectively promote the development of green, low-carbon and high-quality vehicles.
