BYD seals and dolphins both receive ANCAP five-star safety rating
In October 2023, Australian seals and dolphins were awarded a five-star safety rating by the Australian New car Safety Evaluation Association (ANCAP), a pure electric model that won the honor after Yuan PLUS (overseas named BYD ATTO 3).
As the authoritative vehicle safety assessment agency in Australia and New Zealand, ANCAP has developed a series of strict test procedures and upgraded the test standards in 2023. The vehicle must meet the highest safety standards in all test modules in order to receive the ANCAP five-star safety rating.
According to ANCAP's official report, BYD Seal scored full marks in several tests. Based on the excellent body structure, the seal scored as high as 89% in the adult occupant protection test and 87% in the child occupant protection test, which fully demonstrates that BYD attaches great importance to driving safety.
Compact car dolphins also show excellent protection in crash tests. In the frontal and side impact tests, the child occupant protection program got full marks. The car is also equipped with side airbags, side air curtains and middle airbags to effectively protect the safety of front row passengers. BYD dolphin also focuses on the protection of vulnerable road users, scoring 85% in this module, the best of all models in 2023.
In addition to regular active collision avoidance performance tests, BYD seals and dolphins also took part in collision prevention tests for AEB motorcycles in corners and overtaking scenes under the new test standards of 2023, with full marks. The new test standard also includes an assessment of the door opening and closing ability of the vehicle when wading in the water. BYD seals and dolphins both meet the requirement of "opening the door when the power is off", that is, when the vehicle is submerged in the water, the door can still open normally from inside the car.
Carla Hoorweg, CEO of ANCAP, said: "the testing and rating standards introduced by ANCAP in 2023 not only put forward higher requirements for vehicle structural protection, but also pose a greater challenge to automakers' active safety systems. It is gratifying to note that the two models tested by BYD this year have received five-star ratings. "
In addition, European seals and dolphins have also won the Euro NCAP five-star safety rating, reflecting BYD's unremitting pursuit of high-quality and high-safety cars. In the future, BYD will continue to follow strict standards and combine industry-leading innovative technology to meet consumers' demand for safe driving and protect the safe travel of consumers around the world.
